Coming March 4 — Missouri S.T.E.M. Day at the Capitol

This year Missouri will highlight Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study and career pathways with Missouri STEM Week March 3 – 7, 2015. The Missouri Mathematics and Science Coalition will hold its annual STEM Day at the Capitol in Jefferson City on Thursday, March 4th, 2015, with a focus on K-12, Higher Education and business STEM programming. The Coalition will host the annual event on the 3rd floor Rotunda of the Capitol. STEM Day allows schools and STEM programs around the state to converge on the Capitol showcasing various school and student science projects and activities. This year’s program will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Missouri STEM Day at the Capitol has become a widely anticipated event.

Takeaways for the event:

  • Organizations and students will have a chance to share their love and excitement for STEM with Missouri State Legislators
  • Educators will have the chance to demonstrate the impact that STEM has on student achievement and why Missouri needs to invest more in curriculum, program support and professional development
  • School administrators will be able to showcase current efforts in their schools and districts with the focus on attracting more attention for the need to support STEM efforts in K-12 and higher education at a local, regional and statewide level
  • STEM program directors and professionals will have the opportunity to promote the advantages and impact, that STEM programming can have on Missouri’s youth
  • Networking with legislators and other key STEM educators and program directors
